BIG thank you to the stellar @stipesstallions admin team @mary_kay_dixon @mrsamandadiehl and @RamirzMichelle for treating us to a yummy Starbucks drink!! PERFECT pick-me-up for my drive to Austin straight from school ๐โ๏ธ
This school year I am moving into my dream role, a dyslexia intervention teacher in @IrvingISD!!! I found I need a few more items to help me implement the fun multi-sensory activities, so I would very much appreciate help getting prepared for a great year! https://t.co/R8CZk6hszN
Scholars from @LexiRix class made my cheeks hurt from smiling so much! โฅ๏ธโบ๏ธ
โI saw this and I was like wait...& then I saw that and I was like whoa!โ
โGuys, does anyone know what color rocket fuel actually is?โ

A6: Starting with the standard helps me to keep in mind as Iโm planning that engineering is NOT an extra time activity, but is an avenue to reinforce the concepts weโre tasked with. Time is such a struggle! #NSTAchat
A6: Teachers tell me one of the best starting points is to attend workshops or events in which you get to engage in engineering for yourself, so you feel what it feels like first. Feel like a kid again!

A6 Activities need to focus on Ss questions. Don't hesitate to have Ss lead. When Ts have Ss work an activity from a Ss question everything improves for Ss and Ts #NSTAchat
A6: From an ELA perspective, I'm always trying to incorporate authentic texts, and Novel Engineering is a great kickstart https://t.co/3z7nKb4Pcd #NSTAchat
Our school @canSTEM has done work with A&M to learn about keeping Engineering Notebooks with our ss that serve as a real-time documentation of their engineering. Still working to implement consistently! #NSTAchat
#NSTAchat A4 I have supported engineering through teaching lot of PD in my area (including the often neglected documenting so the students can re-visit), creating book lists and idea starters (not suggestions), and modeling and discussing when asked. Very local
@racheljcox87@DrMattB@caahayes We have "talks" and science talk and have students help craft the rules. What did your friend say or show that helped you understand how they tested their idea, etc.
A4 I am part of a team writing lessons for urban Ss & using #TradeBooks is a focus. Science IS a literacy class & that connection needs to be developed #NSTAchat
A4: As a humanities teacher I use trade books about inventors for social studies & engineering. ss find the engineering design process in historical figures & create their own design to solve a problem-communication, transportation, etc. Hyperdocs also help research! #NSTAchat
A3: At @canstem we create STEM to go bags so remote students pick up all necessary materials beforehand so students in-person and online create and share at the same time. Materials are more of a constraint than before, but that challenge induces increased creativity! #NSTAchat
