"Close Your Eyes To See: A Sense of Inclusion": I really liked that you focused on the literal architecture of the building as well as sound. You explained how specific parts of the building would affect the aural atmosphere, which I thought was very interesting.#1102archsound
"The Language of Equity": The intro paragraph was very well written, and it lead me to consider how failures of sound equity can have a large affect. he scenarios you presented encourage the reader to put themselves in the stakeholder's shoes, making it effective. #1102archsound
I just spent 15 minutes trying to find what has been making a high-pitch, dog whistle-like sound that has been making it hard to study. Turns out a lightbulb was about to go out. #1102archsound
To be honest, when I first began reading"Rio"I was unsure of what we were supposed to learn from it. It was really cool to read the perspective of someone who didn't have the benefit of using sound to navigate the world. She used sight to describe instead of sound.#1102archsound
I have found that after living with my roommate, I am able to tell what part of her morning routine she is doing by the sounds she makes. She has a early class so she gets up while i'm still sleeping, and I have found that I can tell what she's doing by sound. #1102archsound
Q11: I definitely interpret those poems differently now. I have learned to take into account how a poem is written on a page and the how sounds presented in the poem help create the atmosphere. I've also learned that sound can have significant meaning in a poem. #1102archsound
It was so nice to hear from people more experienced with the concept of equity in class today. What was something new you learned about equity and the living building?#1102archsound
Does anyone else find it cool that when a song is stuck in your head you can almost hear the instruments playing as well as the words? or am I just weird #1102archsound
Q10: The main thing that stuck out about Baruch Spinoza's philosophy was that he felt nature changes depending upon its surroundings. It is constantly evolving. This makes me wonder how it will continue to change as we continue to take up more space and resources. #1102archsound
While watching the rest of the movie from class, I found it so interesting how sound played such a big role in some of their culture as a tribe. Some stories they told involved sound as did their dances. #1102archsound
The movie we watched today posed the issue of tradition vs modern development. How did you think the architect of the living building in the movie worked to find a balance between the two? #1102archsound
Today the student center sounded a lot louder than it normally does. It was filled with groups touring the campus. So crazy to think I was on one of those tours last year.#1102archsound
I recorded my sound for the sonic entry today, and I was surprised at how many times I had to rerecord it to get the clearest possible sound. I'm glad the person I was recording didn't mind me standing by them for so long. #1102archsound
In "Beyond Unwanted Sound" the author writes that "silence counters the toxicity of noise." How do you interpret this statement, and do you agree or disagree with this concept? #1102archsound
After reading about Francisco Lopez's La Selva, I decided to look it up and listen to it myself. It is such an interesting form of music. Here is the link https://t.co/yCO0O90hbe #1102archsound
During spring break I went scuba diving. One of the coolest things about that experience was the acoustic community underwater. I could hear a variety of the different sounds marine life makes such as crab claws moving and the sound of turtles chewing on shells. #1102archsound
I plan on recording the same spot at different times of the day so that I will have several variations of what the area truly sounds like. I will then chose one that seems the most pure (without manipulation by how I am recording) to post. 2/2 #1102archsound
Q9: As Martin said, sounds are different each time. So many things can affect the recording (wind, people, air conditioning, nearby environments, etc.). To get a recording that best represents the sound I am trying to capture, 1/2 #1102archsound
