The things about Iowans when I was there was they HATED being compared to Kansas so when they went hard right and Kansas elected a dem Gov on it was a sore spot
A major issue in talking about abortions in second and third trimester is we are so far away from using medical terms. “Late term” medically refers to 41 weeks of pregnancy, when conservatives are trying to say second or third trimester abortion.
@DouthatNYT There are also strong arguments against elective late term abortions of healthy fetuses. Because at that point the fetus is indistinguishable from a born baby.
But the people who believe abortion should be prohibited from conception need religion to get there.
Okay I was pretty young at the time and not particularly tuned in but if Obama handedly defeated McCain, war prisoner swing state respectable moderate McCain, in what world was Romney ever gonna beat him?
@_glorianas Catholicism intrigues me in that they have radicalized themselves against abortion in the modern era but also against methods to prevent abortion (birth control, sterilization, etc)
New name for PCOS. The new name makes pathophysiological sense but, like all these name changes, will lead to more confusion than clarity. Some of us will use the old name and some the new. Notes over time will be inconsistent and confusing to providers. Patients will get lost in all the letters. I'm not sure this is a net positive change.
@TheRealRhllor We love chaplains on l&d not just for bad things! One patient asked for a chaplain so they could say a prayer prior to their ECV (procedure to turn the baby to have a vaginal delivery) and the procedure worked.
an OBGYN would have made themselves available for a situation like that, and it’s twice now in two different seasons the pitt had ER doctors doing dangerous deliveries without an OBGYN present. that’s a writing choice and it’s allowed to be criticized.
@fuqekgs This is true and the counterpoint is I have worked with older attendings including surgeons with definite physical limitations who stay because they work in an academic institution where residents and fellows do most of the procedure(s)
CBS News: President Trump says he’s not a big fan of conservative activist and swimmer Riley Gaines who campaigns against the participation of trans women in women's sports.
Trump: “I didn’t listen to Riley Gaines. I’m not a big fan of Riley actually.”
