Some of them were members of TFS back in Ibadan. My mind flashed back to the post-screening discussion at Columbia University Maison Française, New York, two months earlier, and I was reminded of how lived and shared experience could incline us to thought and action, if we want.

A month ago, I was invited by the Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco, CA, to join a panel discussion of Alain Kasanda's film, 'Coconut Head Generation'. Obayomi Anthony also joined the conversation, as Prof. Amina Mama moderated the conversation. (1)

And central to this is the reverberating question of police brutality and impunity. The San Francisco occasion remains a memorable one for me, as the audience was significantly composed of graduate students from Nigeria, who had had some brushes with power at different times. (5)

In all, Nigerian youths' resilience, navigating capacity, and opposition to repressive legislation, in the face of the state's perennial affirmation of itself as a veritable waster of life-implicitly and explicitly- formed the core of the post-screening discussion. (4)
