A Corsican of Genoese origin, raised speaking Italian, changed his name in the French manner, learned here of Joséphine’s death.
Perhaps the most French thing in his life was Joséphine, even if she was a créole blanche.
Napoleone Buonaparte’s last words:
“France…l’armée… Joséphine”
No commentary needed sometimes an original historical source speaks for itself. A late 17th-century globe in Rome’s Biblioteca Casanatense records Azerbaijan, Karabakh, and Nakhchivan, and labels the Caspian as “The Caspian (Hyrcanian) Sea, also called the Sea of Baku.”

It was highlighted that Azerbaijan is firmly committed to advancing tourism as a central pillar of its long-term development strategy, “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development.” In this context, we outlined our efforts to diversify the national economy, strengthen infrastructure, enhance regional and international connectivity, and facilitate travel through the innovative “ASAN Visa” system.
Azerbaijan also emphasized the increasing vulnerability of the global tourism sector to the impacts of climate change. For the first time, Azerbaijan announced the inclusion of “Climate Action in Tourism” as part of the COP29 Action Agenda under its Presidency - marking a significant milestone in linking climate policy and sustainable tourism development.

Through systemic finance, public–private partnerships, and innovation, we link energy, digital, and inclusive development for the SDGs.
