As Muslim men today, one of the worst things we can do is speak down on women simply because they are widows, divorcees, single mothers, or older.

It is perfectly acceptable to have personal preferences when choosing a spouse. You are not obligated to marry someone you do not desire.

But we must be careful not to speak down on or belittle the types of women we do not desire simply because of their marital history or life circumstances.

Our preferences should never become an excuse to disrespect any woman.
