@EddieComeaux@UCLALawReview@DrUJayakumar It was shocking to know that Ivy League schools developed the concept of race neutrality in the admissions which minimizes the opportunities for disadvantaged students of color. Instead of uplifting disadvantaged students this system is already favoring the privileged.
@trinbans @KatryaLy It is not surprising that Ivy League schools favor privileged white students giving them a clear advantage against students of color because of there upbrinings. #UCR50@TA_ED50
it’s sad to know that in Ivy League colleges, the journey of college athletes of color is marred by systemic racial discrimination. From unequal opportunities to biased evaluations these talented individuals face. Promote inclusivity and demand change! #UCR50@TA_ED50
@lajoserafin@TA_ED50 It is important to take into consideration that our online footprint does matter now that technology has advanced and that the image we portray on social media is what our bosses, coworkers and in the case of a athlete what there fans will see. #UCR50@TA_ED50
Do fans even care if the athletes are paid to play? The NCAA think viewers will loose interest if the athletes are paid to play. What are your thoughts on this ? #UCR50@TA_ED50
@lisscastrom@abhornUCRedu It’s sad that women have to put extra effort into everything in order for them to be taken serious or close to by men and others. Unfortunately, discrimination torwards women still exist even though we as a society have made a lot of progress for “equality.” #UCR50@TA_ED50
Sports know no gender. Title IX gives female athletes equal opportunities in educational institutions. Together we can contribute to break down barriers, champion equality and create a future where every student has an equal opportunity regardless of gender. #UCR050@TA_ED50
@lajoserafin@TA_ED50 Something is definitely wrong with the amount of discrimination that student athletes of color recieve on campus. The lack of representation in the athlete community contribute to the discrimination, silencing their voices. #UCR50@TA_ED50
Diverse teams, Stronger communities! Lack of representation of people of color in leadership positions within sports organization, coaching staff, and admin roles can contribute to a lack of advocacy for athletes of color. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@lajoserafin@TA_ED50 I also thought that Jana’s experience with the professors was a bit unfair and unprofessional. Hearing that type of comments can be very discouraging to any student wanting to succeed academically. Professors should expect greatness from all there students. @TA_ED50#EDU50
The intense pressure on college athletes to excel places them in vulnerable positions potentially leading to drug abuse and mental health disorders. Their identity is often tied to their performances. Priotizig mental health matters on and off the field. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@lprec009 @abhornUCRedu Colleges should allow student athletes a more flexible schedule that’s accommodate to there training and sporting events by offering more online, evening/night classes; also they should offer or make mandatory for athletes to have mental health wellness checks. #UCR50@TA_ED50
Valuing the tireless efforts and commitment of college athletes means considering fair compensation for their representation. Advocating for pay for play recognizes the substantial contributions athletes make in upholding the schools spirit and legacy. #UCR50@TA_ED50
@drpepperangel@TA_ED50 Studnet athletes usually major in something “easy” and convenient to there athletic schedule. If they had more online class options they would be able to participate in training and be able to major in something that would benefit them if they don’t go pro. #UCR50@TA_ED50
The gap in pay between college coaches and professors is a topic of concern in higher education. It really makes you wonder what’s the higher educations priority; academics or entertainment?#UCR50@TA_ED50
@SamVar6as @TA_ED50 Many athletes lack the understanding of mental health since bein active and working out is linked to good mental health, many don't take into consideration the pressure they carry to be the best performer, or keep up the athlete personality to not seem weak. #UCR50@TA_ED50
Is the label student-athlete a badge of honor or does the label limit the students identity? Should student-athletes just be referred as students? #UCR50@TA_ED50
