For the record: You cannot have an abortion in the 9th month. You cannot have an abortion after birth. If we didn’t keep banning books, maybe we wouldn’t have to clear that up. #Debate2024
Y’all can read about this absolutely distressing situation of me trying to buy a home + learning that the seller didn’t want to sell to me because I’m Black, in @nytimes. Thank you @debra_kamin for your hard work investigating this + educating people about the Fair Housing Act 1/
I'm starting my life from scratch, post-divorce. Looking for full-time opportunities in the DC area, or remote. This is very urgent. Open to opportunities in science communication, and science education. At this point, I'll even go back into the laboratory as a formal scientist.
My son has sickle cell disease and was kicked off of Medicaid in 2019. I lost 100lbs to join the US Army so that he could have medical coverage.
On October 29, 2020 I became an American Soldier!
My hand is injured, and a child ask how I did it.
Me: I’ll tell you 2 stories & you guess which 1 is true.
He nods.
Me: I was feeding sharks and had the fish too close to the water OR I hurt it while washing dishes.
Preschooler: You know you can just throw the fish in.
NEW: The October issue of Health Affairs on #TacklingStructuralRacismInHealth is here. It explores how addressing the impact of all forms of racism in health care is essential to building equity. Supported by @RWJF@CalWellness and @Health4Texas. https://t.co/Jl9tTdiXUz
It’s sad to watch Kevin McCarthy become a victim of white on white violence inside the Congressional White Caucus
But it will continue to happen until those people decide to stop fighting each other and demand more from the leaders of the white community
I am thinking of everyone, particularly the students who are relying on federal program stipends or fellowships to get by and are scrambling to afford a place to live and to pay their bills
6 years ago, 9 months before residency graduation, baby girl arrived!
My pathetic residency director tried to suspend me for missing 7 morning didactic sessions (to take older children to school) after the birth.
I argued this was a blatant FMLA violation. He persisted. 🧵
What if learning loss after a school shooting was treated the same as learning loss after the pandemic? Would we finally hear bipartisan calls for policies to eliminate school shootings?
Imagine a federal law requiring physicians and hospitals convicted of obstetric violence or obstetric racism having to pay child support for murdering a child’s parent or alimony or a lifetime of financial support to the surviving partner/family.

Are the only marginalized people allowed to lead in formal higher education systems the ones who uphold systemic oppression?
I'm reflecting on this question in an essay I'm writing.
This morning I had a conversation with an urban planner and in the middle of our chat, he asked “are you one of those people who think everything is about race? Im asking so I know how to proceed with you..”
I responded, “land use in this country has always been about race.. 1/
Got me thinking about how bad a LOT of white people are at spotting threats from other white coworkers
Like they’re surprised by behavior that non-white (and a few white outliers) saw coming clear as day
Terrible at risk assessment
