Sometimes, when a patron demands I do something faster, I will intentionally do it slower. I move fast normally so if you're going to be impatient, I'll give you something to be impatient about.
Um. Wow. I was out of the office for a conference and didn't get a chance to check on things. My colleague took over to check broken links for patrons and they had the balls to tell a patron "learn how to search better" instead of giving them access to the link. Yikes.
Coworker: "Please know I'm not criticizing your work but this new resource isn't up on our A-Z list."
Me: "It looks like you never sent over the request to get it set up. If you'd like new resources listed, please send in the set-up request as we've done for over 10 years.
I have been working on revamping our A-Z Database list and my lord. I wish I wasn't afraid to do this before.
Now I give zero shits what our possessive librarians think. The typos and ungodly use of quotes needs to go. Single sentence descriptors only!
I just love when my male colleagues mansplain my job to me! I was totally not aware my job contains detailed technical information and phew! My poor little lady brain would have been SO CONFUSED without that mainsplaining guidance ๐
There was a mother browsing the stacks with her young child. I overheard the following:
"Mommy, why would there be a book on small arms? Is this book about my arms??" Why is there a gun on the cover??"
The book was called Small Arms of the World ๐
Good lord. Apparently I can't even close a god damned door right according to one coworker. They then ask me to cover a desk shift and lose their shit when I say no.
They literally stormed off and didn't even say bye. I'm so over this passive aggressive bull crap.
I mean...It's definitely weird to be watching stuff while using the bathroom -in public-. I get that. But if you're expecting to be able to use the restrooms fully in peace, you may wish to try the restrooms in your home. Or at least somewhere less frequented by the public.
Why on earth do some folks insist on watching whatever streaming service while in the bathroom? I rarely deal with patrons anymore and had one approach me to complain about "the women who keeps watching Netflix while on the toilet." They follow w/ "I can't shit in peace?!"

My coworker: "We work so well together! You just get me and what I'm trying to say."
Translation: I put up with your attitude and know it's not personal. I am also much more patient than our other colleagues.
I'm not sure I'll ever understand grown adults that pronounce library without the first 'R'.
Is 'libary' some sort of cultural thing? If so, how? I want to understand this...
Hello again student loan debt.... I was really hoping we didn't have to see each other again ๐
I'm right at about 10 years now out of college so hopefully this will only affect me for a few months before I can FINALLY qualify for forgiveness. This sucks.
For my Canadian friends: I don't know what the fires have been like for you but I can't even imagine how terrible things are for you in your neck of the woods. Breath healthy, friends.
The air quality in my location has been absolute crap lately because of wild fires in Canada. It's been pushing my allergies into overdrive.
I thought we were over screaming "COVID!!!" at people when they sneeze. For one of our patrons? Absolutely still doing that I guess.
I was sick last week with a terrible head cold. I'm finally feeling fine and am back in the office as a result. Apparently my sleep schedule is all off because my coworker just about lulled me to sleep by yapping on about some ebook. Oofta!
I tell my coworkers all thr time if they have a problem to message our shared email so if I'm not around, my other colleague can take a look. Do they listen?? No. Things end up sitting around and taking forever and I don't feel bad.
It always cracks me up. How in the hell do expect an employee to exceed expectations at attendance?? I'll happily just meet expectations there. Thank you very much.
