398 volunteers across Scotland's recovery communities give nearly 3,000 hours of support every single week.
That's not a "nice extra". That's the foundation.

🏴Be more Jessie! One of the few known working-class Scottish suffragettes 💪💜
Jessie Stephen grew up in Maryhill, Glasgow and worked as a domestic servant in her youth. Jessie dedicated her life to championing workers’ rights and women’s suffrage. She became a powerful voice for social change. Although a fearless campaigner for women’s rights, her activism extended beyond this. She had a lifelong political career as a trade unionist, councillor, and advocate for equality.
Jessie’s life was celebrated in an exhibition held last year at Maryhill Burgh Halls.

From conversation to analysis.
We are collating insights from our year-long listening exercise.
This data will be used to produce a report detailing the specific barriers women face.
We are creating a resource to shape service design & support decision-making.

The theme of this year's #DebtAwarenessWeek is debunking the shame and stigma around debt, and that conversation must include survivors of domestic abuse.
In this new blog, our National Policy Lead for Economic Abuse, Dr Jenn Glinski explains that coerced debt is a form of economic abuse.

What does "Gender-Responsive" mean?
Women told us exactly what needs to change:
✅ Women-Only Spaces
✅ Trauma-Informed Pathways
✅ Practical Support (Childcare/Transport)
The solutions exist. Now we need to build them.

📖#SWAhistorySpotlight 📖
This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the amazing women, both past and present, who power the Women’s Aid movement across Scotland.
As we prepare to launch our 50th year celebrations, we’re reflecting on the collective strength behind nearly five decades of change.
At Scottish Women’s Aid, our staff work nationally to strengthen and support our network of local specialist services, to campaign for better laws and policies, and to ensure the voices of women and children are heard where decisions are made.
Across the country, local Women’s Aid specialist services work directly alongside women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.
They provide life-saving support, refuge and advocacy, standing with survivors as they rebuild their lives.
This milestone year belongs to those who have shaped our movement over the past five decades, and to those continuing the work today.
Thank you for your courage, your expertise, and your unwavering commitment to women’s safety and equality.
Happy International Women's Day! 💜✨
Today we celebrate the strength & resilience of every woman in recovery in Scotland.
To every woman who shared her story: Thank you. We see you. We hear you. We are committed to acting on what you told us
