After Russia launched its full-scale invasion, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation committed nearly $150 million to Ukraine in 2022 and roughly $360 million in 2023. By 2024, its total support had surpassed half a billion dollars.

And it wasn't simply writing checks.

Buffett's foundation funded kitchen factories in Bucha and Lozova, supported the rebuilding of police infrastructure, and provided mine-clearing equipment, generators and DNA technology used to identify victims and investigate Russian war crimes.

Ukrainian farmers received combines, tractors and other agricultural equipment. In heavily mined regions, simply making farmland safe enough to cultivate has become an enormous undertaking.

Buffett also backed the Superhumans Center near Lviv, where Ukrainians injured by the war receive prosthetics, rehabilitation and medical care.

Together with Ukrzaliznytsia, his foundation funded the extraordinary Kitchen Train — a mobile kitchen capable of operating autonomously for up to seven days and producing around 10,000 meals per day for communities in frontline and liberated areas.

Howard Buffett is the middle son of legendary investor Warren Buffett. But Ukrainians don't know him simply because his father is a billionaire.

They know him because when the full-scale war began, he came to Ukraine. He saw what was happening with his own eyes. And he decided to help — not with slogans, but with food, farm machinery, demining equipment, prosthetics and hundreds of millions of dollars in support.
