I've finally begun working on Book two, too!
"Straight people never make their sexuality their entire personality"
THEY DO. THEY LITERALLY DO IT EVERYDAY.
ITS THE REASON WHY I HAVE TO SEE SO MANY STUPID TAKES ON MY TL ABOUT PAYING FOR DATES, IF WIPING THEIR ASS OR DRINKING WATER IS OK AS A STRAIGHT MAN
Cis people do not understand how horrible it is to see your body change in ways that doesn't connect with your gender identity..
and see your life be negatively impacted in every single way because of this mismatch.
apparently my friends were discussing my sexuality yesterday and came to the conclusion I’m not a lesbian (。•́︿•̀。) why do they just get to decide that? I AM a lesbian. There’s no changing that . . . ?
@mprince956@heavensbvnny what skills are worth a livable wage and who gets to decide that? Because not everyone is meant to be a doctor or lawyer or engineer. Some people are just…. coffee brewers, custodians etc and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean they deserve to live in poverty
y’all have no respect for the ppl who make your life easier. the person making your morning coffee deserves a livable wage. the person stocking the groceries you buy deserves a livable wage. the person cleaning the restrooms in the office you work at deserves a livable wage.
accidentally pulled out really fast in front of a car and i watched in my rearview mirror as a trans girl in the car behind me flipped me off and then slowly realized i was a sister because of my bumper stickers and started laughing
“The Interview”
“Why do you want this job?”
The applicant stared at the interviewer.
“Do you want the real answer?”
“I’d prefer it.”
“I need money.”
The interviewer laughed.
“Most people say they’re passionate about the company.”
“I don’t even know what your company does.”
“You didn’t research us?”
“I did. I forgot.”
The interviewer leaned back.
“You’re not doing very well.”
“I know.”
“Then why should I hire you?”
The applicant thought for a moment.
“Because I’m honest.”
“Honest people lie all the time.”
“True.”
The interviewer raised an eyebrow.
“You’re not helping your case.”
“I’m not trying to.”
“Then why are you here?”
The applicant looked down at his hands.
“My daughter needs surgery.”
The room became quiet.
The interviewer didn’t speak.
The applicant continued.
“I’ve done twelve interviews in three months.”
“That’s rough.”
“At every interview, I smile. I tell them their company is my dream.”
“And?”
“And they smile back and tell me they’ll call.”
The interviewer slowly nodded.
“So today I decided to stop pretending.”
Another long silence.
Finally, the interviewer opened a folder.
“Do you know what this company does?”
“No.”
“We make prosthetic limbs for children.”
The applicant blinked.
“Oh.”
The interviewer closed the folder.
“My son has one.”
The applicant didn’t know what to say.
“Car accident,” the interviewer added.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. He’s doing great.”
The interviewer looked at him for a long moment.
Then he stood and held out his hand.
“When can you start?”
The applicant stared.
“Seriously?”
“You gave the only honest answer I’ve heard all week.”
The applicant shook his hand.
“Thank you.”
The interviewer smiled.
“Just do me one favor.”
“Anything.”
“Learn what the company does before Monday.”
For the first time in months, the applicant laughed. And for the first time in months, the future felt a little less frightening.
Actually, if capitalism truly rewarded skill or intelligence, the richest people would be neurosurgeons, engineers, and scientists.
If it rewarded talent, it would be artists,
writers, and creators.
If it rewarded hard work, it would be cleaners, laborers, and service workers.
But it's none of them.
