Now, formally, is Akari's birthday. Sister duos are popular in anime, so there is much for me to draw on, this time Kyou from Clannad. My favorite teacher trope is the kind that has trouble being formal, and that's why I chose Yukari from Azumanga Daioh (ep11).

Y'know, I think I don't really have any good memories of my childhood. I can think of people who were generally good growing up, but it's a small list. I should think of writing again. But I'm a little concerned I might prep everything and still not be in good physical condition.

I think within all mindsets there is this ideal of what they think Japanese culture is and it is usually wrong.

There is no true anime fan or fan of JP culture.

But I think I'm allowed to be a bit elitist and say that there's more fans nowadays I think do not have an interest in these particular things as much as they do the concept of them existing and want nothing further out of it.

I wouldn't exactly equate that to being a poser as much as it is... The desire for something mystical and dissimilar to your culture being present as long as it fits within your culture? Very similar to older concepts of "orientalism" without people outright saying it is.

Of course, one is allowed to have preferences and tastes, but do not confuse such things for dogma. Many professional artists would not and do not do the same.

There tend to be art style trends. Works of art often "steal" design elements from other works more than people like to think. Having a favorite work doesn't mean said work "owns" that design philosophy. Such barriers only get in the way of artists who actually want to create.

It's not lost media! I have a private copy of it I bought for my collection I'll never show and that will most likely be thrown in a landfill after I die! So don't say it's lost because I'm totally preserving it properly!
