The need for comprehensive election reform is absolute if we are to to have any hope of permanently straightening out the mess that our elections have become over the last multiple decades. But without including a critical and absolutely necessary one that I have never seen properly addressed or even mentioned, it is a futile effort.
Congress' power to impose Regulations on the States, even for Federal Elections, is currently very limited. This power is provided by Article 1 Section 4 Clause 1 and extends only to the elections of federal Representatives and Senators, not even to Presidential elections.
This means that we also need a Constitutional Amendment in order to provide comprehensive, permanent, sane and rational election reforms - something like this:
--- Begin Amendment Text ---
A proposed Constitutional Amendment amending Article 1 Section 4 to the following:
"The Times, Places, Manner, and Rules and Regulations governing the holding of Elections, both Federal and State, may be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof provided that any such rules and regulations not in any way alter or ignore the following basic requirements:
All federal elections shall be held on one single day designated as 'Election Day' as established by Congress, which is herein declared to be a National Holiday;
Only fully documented Citizens of the legal age of 18 are allowed to be registered to vote;
All voter registration must be done in person at the Registrar's office for the voter's designated precinct, and only after providing valid State issued Identification, proof of Citizenship, and age;
Up to 30 days of early voting is allowed prior to 'Election Day', but said early voting must follow the exact same process and rules as those mandated for 'Election Day';
Drop boxes are not allowed;
Mail-in voting is not allowed;
Absentee ballots shall be provided to any individual that requests one as long as they fulfill a special separate 'Absentee Ballot Registration' process wherein the prospective voter must do so separately for each and every Election in which they wish to vote by Absentee Ballot, and they must meet all of the following conditions: 1) they must prove they will not be physically present in the jurisdiction wherein they are registered and legally allowed to vote either during the early voting period in States that allow early voting, and/or on Election Day, 2), when Registering to vote by Absentee Ballot, the Registrant must fulfill all of the same requirements mandated in this Section for Registering for in-person Election Day voting, and 3) all Absentee Ballots must be received by the time polls close and no Absentee Ballots that arrive after polls close shall be counted;
Any Federal, State or Local election official who is charged with and convicted of intentional violation of any of the mandated requirements in this Section is guilty of a Federal Felony of at least a Class C, and upon conviction, in addition to applicable criminal penalties, shall be barred for life from employment with any Local, State or Federal government or governmental agency.
Congress may at any time by Law make new or alter existing Rules and Regulations except for those herein mandated in Clauses 1 through 9, and except as to the Places of chusing Senators."
--- end Amendment Text ---
Anything less and the problems simply are not fixed.
@nitesamurai@AlpacaAurelius Your body doesn't need exogenous sugar. None. Zero. What little glucose it needs it can make itself.
Human metabolism runs much better and cleaner on ketones.
This is completely false for many if not most. Sure, there are some who just don't care and/or have given up and refuse to even try any more.
The problem is, they simply don't have the correct information, directly because of all of the conflicting and/or (deliberate in many/most cases) mis/dis/mal-information out there.
I know, because I was one of those fat people who 'couldn't put down the chips, pastries and ice cream'.
I had lots of will power. I know this because I went on countless different diets, and stayed on them for months at a time, white-knuckling it in many/most cases, until it just became obvious it wasn't working as advertised.
This continued until I found low-carb/keto and soon thereafter carnivore. At that point everything just clicked. It was effortless, because I was not only no longer starving all the time, I was truly satiated for the first time in my adult life.
@MAGAVoice Could have been caused by the jabbers. But he's also had a long history of high BP and other cardiac related issues.
You calling Occam's Razor stupid?
@MAGAVoice Just STFU, stop being just batshit insane! That is how things work. One minute someone's walking and talking, and the next they're gone. Happens all the time.
@Ni_subo_ni_bajo@jota_snchez Each item in that list was something that people are DOING that is BAD for them.
So, sauna, cold water, intense exercise, fasting - all good, excellent, in fact, as long as you don't overdo it.
@Beloved10615471@jota_snchez Strength training. The trick is knowing how to do it right. The problem is there are just as many different opinions on what constitutes the 'right' way. I have my own opinion on this, I guess time will tell if I'm right...
@BarronTNews_ Trump supporting Graham was always one of my big peeves with Trump. Graham was a RINO war-mongering asshat. I'm not happy that he is dead, but I'm extremely happy his senate seat will soon be filled by someone else.
@mattvanswol Oh please... just stop. Sometimes shit happens, and sometimes RINOs die. I've never wished for him to die, but I'm glad his senate seat will soon be filled with someone else.
@Q_TheStormRider Unbelievable... anyone who falls for this scamshit deserves whatever they get. If I were Elon I'd sue @Q_TheStormRider into oblivion for this AI crapfest.
Not too bad a list Paul, maybe you've started lowering the carbs?
But you left one of the most important first steps...
First thing, before stopping the screens and blue light, is exposure to the setting sun, to initiate the production of melatonin and telling the body its time to sleep.
Also, I have tinnitus pretty bad, and sleep much much better with a loud fan running in my room. I wish it wasn't the case, and if anyone knows a way to relieve/eliminate tinnitus, by all means please speak up...
My apologies, I read this entire thread and realized you didn't actually use the term calorie in the way that most people do (and that triggers my peeve). In fact, in an indirect way, you appear to be saying something similar to what I said, so I deleted my misdirected response...
