Hey Memphis, let’s bring Libertyland’s Casey’s Cannonball train home! If anyone has interest in helping make this happen (or know someone who might), send me a message! https://t.co/5z275cTBxf
@holly_sayshello@memphismorris @Leftdescending What’s sad is that we’re losing one of the most park-like things about the Fairgrounds — a large grove of century-old trees — to a big-box sports complex with athletic fields. A more fitting homage to Libertyland would be a green space that all can enjoy.
The city’s latest push to redevelop the 168-acre public property includes a 277,000-square-foot Memphis Sports and Events Center that would be for public use and the use of youth sports tournament. https://t.co/ax0TmXdDJD
On the menu at the new @muggin_coffee (just down the road from Graceland) is the very delicious Zippin Pippin frozen white mocha drink topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. Support a local business and reminisce about Elvis Presley’s favorite roller coaster!
Would you have ridden the Revolution like this?! In 1983, as part of a "That's Incredible" TV episode, one of the Revolution's cars was retrofitted to allow daredevil Dave Cox to “ski” through the track. (Photos courtesy of Kreig Taylor.)
Happy belated #NationalCarouselDay! From opening at the Fairgrounds Amusement Park in 1923 to reopening at its new home inside the Children's Museum of Memphis in 2017, Libertyland's Grand Carousel has lived an exciting life!
Happy Independence Day from Memphis Heritage!
Many Memphians celebrated America’s bicentennial at the Mid-South Fairgrounds and the opening ceremonies of Libertyland Amusement Park.
THREAD: Ready for a virtual trip down memory lane?! Stephen LeBlanc, son of iconic pedal steel player Leo LeBlanc, recreated Libertyland using the @PlanetCoaster theme park simulator. 1/6
