Day 1 of our Summer Book Giveaway was a SUCCESS! Nothing makes my ❤️happier than to see kids EXCITED about books! We are so lucky to have community members, staff, and other supporters to help us spread the #summerbookjoy
Math + Pancakes = A FUN way to combine multiple math standards and strengthen mathematical reasoning/language skills! 4th grade had a blast this week creating custom pancake recipes, cooking, tasting, and rating their creations!
So proud of our Student Bookmark Design Challenge winners! Their work will be made into bookmarks for our whole school to use and enjoy. They also won a gift card to our book fair! #GESReads
4th grade rocked our “Chopped: Figurative Language” game today! Our “chefs” created amazing dishes with our basket ingredients! I was so impressed with their writing and creativity! Thanks @DrakeGes for such a fun Monday!
🍕 Our “Fractions Pizza Cafe” 🍕 was a big hit with 5th grade today (fake mustaches added some fun)! We used our math skills to relate fractions to pizza toppings and cooked REAL pizza, thanks to our awesome Ms. Arrington in the cafeteria! 🍕 @amanda_scogin#MathCrafters5
5th grade ROCKED our “Starbooks Math Cafe” challenges today! It always so fun to step outside my comfort zone to “math” with the amazing math teacher @amanda_scogin. ☕️
Telling children who love graphic novels that "graphic novels do not help you grow as a reader," is not true and diminishes the children right along with the books. Reading doesn't belong to school. It belongs to readers. Value them!
@GES_ErinHicks @consciouskidlib @kimberly_milton@Glanton_Gators Thank you all so much for helping us make sure all of our students see both themselves and others in our collection! This has been a goal we've had over the past several years, so your contributions are SO appreciated!
We had so much fun saving the library from a zombie invasion 🧟♂️today while learning about coordinate planes and ordered pairs! We coded Spheros to knock down the zombies and save us! Thanks @CowetaSTEM for letting us borrow the Spheros! Our kiddos loved it! @amanda_scogin
A case of the “Mondays” led me to a reminder from my hike yesterday: beautiful things can grow from hard things, often when we least expect it. #keepgoingkeepgrowing
It wouldn’t be October in the library without a little SLIME...magnetic slime, that is! 1st grade had so much fun reviewing magnets, writing about our process, and testing our slime with magnets! 🧲
Our morning "Book Bus" is all packed & ready for her maiden voyage tomorrow! So excited to bring a little bit of the library to Ss each morning in addition to their regular visits! #givethemallthebooks#GESReads#bookbus
School #Library Friends: I need your help. If your school (or district) has eliminated library fines, will you please contribute to this map? https://t.co/k8HHEyLB1x
Can you also help me by RTing this so others can contribute as well? Thanks! #futurereadylibs#bookaday#tlchat
If we as educators are not letting kids REALLY make choices about books that they want to read and then we assess every little thing they do with a book they are reading, how can we ever expect that kids will ENJOY reading?
📚💕Happy #NationalLibrarianDay and School Library Month! 💕📚 Please enjoy this awesome video of our CCSS Media Specialists. Thanks to @ATBOTBookBug for putting it together!

@Wansleyk Postage is out of my own pocket at the moment, but I’ve had generous people like @GES_ErinHicks and friends/family donate to help out. I am looking at other ways to fund, but for now, we are thankful to be able to do it with what we have!
Spent the day sorting, writing notes, and packing! So excited to see our first batch of books for our students go out tomorrow. I had so much fun choosing books I hope they ❤️!
“When you can’t go to the library, a little bit of the library can come to you!” 📚
