@ChuckBaggett Unfortunately worldcat has made their catalogs difficult to read (they have a number of countermeasures they’ve put in place that requires some crypto to decode results from)
@ChuckBaggett Hi! You should be able to update to 2024.807.1 which fixes many of the issues; another update is in the approval process and should be available by the morning and fixed several other issues and should leave the Library Extension back in a stable state. Thanks for your patience!
@Jinjer@CNET@GaelFC Oh no! My first suggestion is to restart Chrome or a reboot of your system can often fix this - I’ve seen some issues where the browser doesn’t fully install updates if your browser has an update pending too! If that fails to fix the problem email me [email protected]
Google's Chrome store has released our update, 2022.221.2, fixing the bug impacting Chrome users! Users should start to get the update shortly, or you can force an update from the Extensions page (contact us if you need any help!)
Apologies to our Chrome users for the release this morning (2022.220.1) that contained a bug preventing the Extension from working properly. We have a fix that is pending Google's Chrome Store approval process, and will let everyone know as soon as it's made broadly available.
@clancynewyork Hi Eileen, I'm sorry to hear this - I've had a few others report something similar. Some have found the extension permissions changed on them - if you right click on the icon and choose This Can Read/Change and set 'On all sites', that the 1st thing to check
@lhnatiuk@goodreads If you have the latest version (2021.511.1), you might have hit another issue where GoodReads updates the page and overwrites the Extension; usually, this happens the first time you're browsing and often a fresh (F5) will get it to show up again - I'm still working on that bug
Per a request from a librarian, our latest release (2021.511.1) adds support for @KirkusReviews - so you can now easily see if your library has the book that you're reading reviews for! Existing users need to enabled this new site in the configuration to see it.
@lhnatiuk Hi Laurie - just a quick note to let you know that I released a fix for the Goodreads beta page last night - if you use Chrome or Firefox, you should already have the update (2021.511.1) or let me know and I can help you get it - Edge users will have to wait for about a week yet
@lhnatiuk Hi Laurie - looks like there’s been another recent change to the beta that has changed and impacted the Extension! I’ll see if I can get a fix out in the next day or so. Thanks for the heads up!
@dwightwalker@goodreads Thanks for the call-out! In fairness to the turnaround, you happened to write in at a time when I was able to make near-real-time fixes in response! I can't promise that level of service at all hours of the day!
You can install the Extension from app stores for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge via our website at https://t.co/GbouBXoJFE (sorry, no Safari yet, but it's coming soon!). Can't see your library? Just let us know and we can usually add most libraries and their catalogs within a day!
On #ReadAcrossAmericaDay, make it easier than ever to find books (and ebooks) at your local library with our Library Extension browser extension - find books you can get from your library while you browse dozens of sites! Get a great read, support your library, and save a buck!
@infinitebuffalo@TheMonikaNemeth @Ryanfor3F05 @veleau_monica Hi, thanks so much for the mentions! Just wanted to let you know that Safari is in progress -- I do have a basic working version, but I haven't verified it for all the sites and catalogs yet (Safari's Extension environment is a little more restrictive than Chrome/Firefox).
@ChuckSciTech Hi Chuck, Mozilla overhauled their Android Web Extensions support in September (https://t.co/nTuEJwEVZG) but I’ve neglected to update the website to reflect the change - I have submitted the Library Extension to be added to their whitelist but I don’t know where are in the list
@WildPixels Hey Bruno, I know it seems like an eternity but I wanted to share that progress is continuing with my first successful end to end test on safari. I still have some work but I’m feeling that things are getting closer (subject to App Store review process and other unknowns)
