The debate between Manga and Comics is interesting. While Manga has all the advantages, Comics just aren't made to compete with them. Comics want to keep their characters forever young and never let them progress beyond a certain point. Manga is only progression.
Disney is reportedly panicking over ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ test screenings.
Early viewers describe it as a "completely humorless, harrowing bloodbath" with a massive superhero death toll. One insider claims: "It feels like a mass execution of the franchise.
She will “accidentally” use kryptonite bullets. But it won’t be her fault, her emotions would be too much for her to handle. Then after she will go on living just fine with Jon, because her guilt is more than enough.
I do like Lanters, I admit, 3 episodes in.
But. Episode three just makes John feel like the only reason he wants to be a Lantern is cause Hal is white.
You would think a “Superhero,” as the creators have labeled John, would have little more dimensionality than that.
The clock struck Midnight at Midtown Comics! 🌙
Yesterday, creators Jonathan Hickman, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, and Benjamin Percy joined fans in NYC to celebrate and sign their brand-new Midnight comics.
‘Midnight X-Men’ #1, ‘Midnight Spider-Man’ #1, and ‘Midnight Fantastic Four’ #1 are now on sale at your local comic shop.
@Freethewzrd Turn Harry Potter into a full High School Musical style show and I guarantee people will be angry. We could use the excuse This. Ain't. The. Book. All the want….doesnt mean a bad adaptation isn't a bad adaptation
Being upset with fans who don’t like Lanterns is interesting given all the great Green Lantern content of the past twenty years.
Imagine an eight-episode series about Peter Parker working as a photographer at the Daily Bugle, never suiting up as Spider-Man. He uses his web-shooters four times, while Uncle Ben is villainized as a white old-school racist. “With great power comes great responsibility” becomes “With great skills comes great humility” or some bullshit.
“But it’s character-driven! It’s world-building! It’s setting up future seasons!”
Those excuses can’t substitute for delivering the character and concept people came to watch.
Tell me you’ve never read Green Lantern without telling me you’ve never read Green Lantern.
Morrison, Jemisin, Gibbons, Tomasi, Bedard, Jensen, Humphries, Seeley, Jurgens…
Morrison literally called his own run a police procedural. Lmao.
@LibraryovLegend@RySchramm Green Lantern has basically never been a police procedural in any way. They don't even have a procedure. It's just science fantasy
@Jessisdrawing@RySchramm Morrison’s GL. Jemisin’s Far Sector. Gibbons, Tomasi, Bedard & Jensen’s GLC. Humphries, Seeley & Jurgens’ Green Lanterns. Englehart’s GLC. Broome’s GL. Adams & Hampton’s GLC.
Police-procedural storytelling is all over Green Lantern. “Never”? Seriously?
@Jessisdrawing@RySchramm You didn’t read Morrison did you? Morrison literally called it a police procedural. Jemisin’s Far Sector is a murder investigation, and Gibbons’s Green Lantern Corps opens with one. Yes, it’s science fantasy. That doesn’t mean it can’t ALSO be a police procedural.
@DeezyDevs For me it’s not any of those. It’s simply that the characters don’t feel like their characters. I think the goal of comics media should at least be to translate characters to live action. In this case, this is not that.
@ironvell I dunno, they did say that they want to make Spider Woman a full ongoing long term. I think there are too many progressive voices in comics just eliminate female leads.
