BTS didn't need to 'tear down' the Grammys. They simply moved beyond them | By: @filmybugB
There is something revealing about the way the conversation around BTS and the Grammys has unfolded.
The moment the popular Korean boy band announced it would not submit its music for the Recording Academy’s newly created Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, the debate quickly shifted away from what BTS actually said to what many believed they owed the category.
Music executive Zeena Koda, who has said she spent years advocating for greater Asian representation within the Grammy Awards, described the decision as “tearing down” years of work. Her disappointment is understandable, but disappointment and destruction aren’t the same thing.
