Allowing medically assisted dying for the terminally ill or those with grievous and irremediable conditions. Authorised by David Seymour, Parliament Buildings
@EuthFreeNZ No, because we have public healthcare and international research shows there are no cost savings to health care from the legalisation of assisted dying.
@EuthFreeNZ@radionz No. The Select Committee was blocked from making the proposed changes due to personal opposition of members. Those members couldn’t block the MoJ and MoH from doing a great job at amending what they could in front of them. This next stage is when those amendments will pass.
Euthanasia advocate @mattvarchar is back in NZ and says the @LifeChoiceNZ bill currently before Parliament is about letting people have dignity in death by having a choice about how they die. He'll join Jim at the end of the interview with Lord Carlile to share his thoughts.
Dr Rodney Syme, a longtime advocate for assisted dying, is being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.
Dr Syme was President of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society and his initiatives reformed Victoria which legalised Assisted Dying in 2017.

@EuthFreeNZ@jehancasinader@NZStuff “He'd also love to be dead by 80.
"I don't want to be dragging my carcass down the street at 95. I don't want to lose my quality of life, my mental faculties, my independence."
We all hope for a dignified end but that is not the reality for many NZers. This is about choice.
@EuthFreeNZ We base our campaign on the reality that many New Zealanders face an unbearable death without choice. That is not fear, or uncertainty, it’s a reality. 75% of New Zealanders see this, why can’t you acknowledge it?
The other night I appeared on @ThreeNewZealand's @TheProject_NZ to discuss assisted dying and @dbseymour's @LifeChoiceNZ Bill. They had a good summary of where we're at in the process and what comes next.
A prominent law professor, and father of Chris Penk, MP for Helensville, has been outed for using a fake name in anti-euthanasia letters in various NZ publications.

Let’s listen to the 75% of New Zealanders who support change.
“Just over 12 per cent of the New Zealand population identify as Catholic and yet their view has been one of the most prominent – and well-covered in the media [...].”
