For those who understand the First Amendment, for those who go deeper into defending freedom and free association from all forms of statism, the US attacks on RT are not only not sanctioned by the 1A (which is not exclusively protective of "Americans' right to free speech), they are infringements of the simple right to associate. The FARA statute, as well - as important as some might feel it is (it actually doesn't stop foreign payoffs to politicians) also would require an amendment to the Constitution. Most of all, when it comes to people offering and consuming information/news, that is between the people engaged in the transaction. If the receiver believes he has been tricked or bamboozled because the author didn't "disclose a funding source", he can bring a tortious claim for fraud. We who appreciate RT know that it has excellent journalists, and we understand its connection to the Russian govt. Meanwhile, the US govt began sending millions to "news" outlets in the US starting in 2017 with the beginning of the Portman-Murphy statute, and that cash traveled through things like DARPA, the Virality Project, and NewsGuard. The US Congress just okayed $1.6 Bil over 5 yrs to propagandize in China... Pop media toes the DC line... the feds push social media to censor us. I think we get it, DC, "Justice" Dept, FBI... Your grandiloquence and press conferences are ugly masks to hide your expansive attempts to silence dissent and discourse - and you have the gall to use our money for "our protection."
