@bphillipsonMP this is all wonderful, but what are you proposing when the reason the child is not in school is not home, but the LA having no school for for child-
left drifting on EOTAS no access to maths/english/GCSE’s Many SEND & care experienced children in this position
Tackling absence is a generational challenge.
If government, parents & schools work together, children thrive.
We'll play our part rolling out breakfast clubs, stronger mental health & SEND provision and a broad curriculum for all. We need parents to be partners in this effort.
@MartinBarrow It’s so scary isn’t it. The threat of having your children removed is immense, but to know if they are removed they will litrally be sent to a hell pit of harrowing neglect for profit is a terrifying concept. You just can’t make it make sense
@Rachel_deSouza@bphillipsonMP Are u aware of how many adopted/care experienced children have NO school offer? 4.5 years for us Begging daily to LA to provide min of maths/ English. LA ignore, refuse! Loads of kids affected. Drifting out of school with zero chance of GCSE-Failed by the state
@mikeireland100@Rachel_deSouza@thetimes Hmm, they say this. However reality with no diagnosis a child can/is often punished for displaying behaviours from their unique additional needs. Or edu shift blame to ‘poor parenting’. Child ages through the system ending up broken due to consistently having unmet needs.
@Rachel_deSouza@thetimes Started the ASD /FASD diagnosis pathway for Adopted children journey 9 years ago…… still in the system…. Still waiting for the final diagnosis. Drifting for 4.5 years without school place as the LA have no school to meet unique needs of CE children with undiagonsed needs.
@savororaidh Every word of this thread is felt. You don’t walk this alone. There are so many of us that will never forgive ourselves for not seeing it. Then once you do see it you can’t un-see. A shit show based on ego
and covert narcissism with a child lost and forgotten amongst the storm.
In our small area of Manny where we reside theres 8xCare Experianced/Adopted young people with no school offer.
8 in just 1 tiny post code area
refused access to a school. Some for years due to early life experiences. Imagine what that equates to
when we look at that nationally
@CliveFlint@WriterHBlack Unfortunately it is, sadly. In contact with lots of Familes/ professionals and my own care experianced children. They all have the same tales…… 1 parent has a child who is in access of £1 million-its huge contributor to overspends in education/ social care.
Care Experienced YP- never had access to high school-LA has no schl offer. It’s now time to think about collage. Ambition to work in TV lighting. Have oodles of ‘real’ TV work experience, great TV credits. Collage-you’re not welcome, you won’t get anywhere without 4 GCSE’s in TV
@DudeAdhd If Academy’s have you worried, take a peak behind the door of SEND Private Alternative Provisions. Nothing short of the Wild West. Costs £1000s PM. Unregulated, no Ofstead reg needed, teachers with no teaching qual. When it goes wrong, there’s NOTHING to protect child/parent
@NuffieldFJO@Sanchia7 This happening in education for Care Experainced & SEND YP. There's often no schools for them to be taught. Alternative Provisions/Mentor Services charge £1000’s. Untrained staff, unregistered with Offstead. Maths/English taught in fast food places. Kids at risk. List goes on.
@WritesBright Isn't it interesting how often middle classes venture out on a poverty safari & attempt to aline themselves with the working classes to appear revelant & (cringing) cool. When all W/C hear & think is, yeh but…. (#PulpLyric) “If you called your Dad he could stop it all”🎵
Profit in the Children's Care system should never have been allowed to fester. Yet it's happening day after day, bankrupting LA's.....£20k a week for one child. How? The outcomes for the child @£20k a week will be so low its enough to make you weep https://t.co/nUgc3Z4ETk
@ccwild79 Another hidden side-it spills over into education. Care experienced children often have no solid education offer that can meet their unique needs. Many times farmed out to the private sector. Just had quote-untrained teachers £840 9hrs a week! No GCSE at the end. Failed again
@ccwild79 Why are children who have been forced/threatened in the pics never spoken about. Where r their voices/protection. Its always downgraded as a victimless crime.
Money changed hands, the pics were taken for a ‘profitable’ quick sick gratification-childs image is out there for life!
