We believed great AI narration could change minds—but belief isn’t evidence. So we partnered with Edison Research at SSRS to put it to the test.

In the largest independent study of its kind, more than 1,000 U.S. fiction audiobook listeners heard a new sci-fi thriller narrated by either a professional human or an unedited, one-click Spoken Multi-Cast™ AI narration—without knowing which they were hearing.

The results were surprising. 👀

🎧 AI narration is changing the audiobook experience.

New research found that AI multi-character narration outperformed human narration for character-driven stories in favorability, quality, and engagement. After hearing a sample, interest in AI audiobooks more than doubled (31% → 65%), and most listeners couldn’t reliably tell the AI narration from a human performance.

Even after learning it was AI, listeners were just as likely to buy an AI-narrated audiobook as a human-narrated one. The biggest draw? More immersive storytelling with distinct voices for every character.

@test_testid @webdevcody CD .. goes back in the directory structure. CD - goes to the last active directory. Meaning it if you CD directly to a folder it would take to back to where you were previously and not just back a directory.
