I have no idea who this woman in. She was in a line at Whole Foods and I was struck by her appearance. I felt compelled to compliment her and she seemed happy that she was noticed. (Seriously, how could anyone not?) I asked for permission to take her picture and she shared with me that she turns 83 tomorrow.
Thank you for making this gray, rainy, cold day, a lot brighter my unknown friend. 💙

When a dog is surrendered to a shelter, because they got lost, because someone moved, because the new home doesn’t allow pets, or simply because their family grew tired of them, this is what happens. They sit quietly, waiting for you to return. Not for hours. Not just for days. Sometimes for months. They don’t care about toys, treats, or even food. All they want is you. If you cannot commit to loving and protecting a dog for their entire life, please do not bring one home. Say no to abandonment. Because he never would. ❤️
To everyone applying to adopt this sweet dog: when you are not selected, please go to your local animal shelter and pick a dog from their at risk / to be killed list. Choose a mother left behind after her puppies were adopted. Rescue a senior dog just wanting to be loved.

The negative stuff gets the attention, but the real world looks closer to this. There are way more good people out there ready to help a stranger than what you see on the news. Always good to get a reminder.
12-year-old Maya Gebala was gunned down in Canada recently by a man pretending to be a woman during the Tumbler Ridge mass*cre.
Maya was trying to lock the school library door to protect her fellow students but had to abandon the door and hide under a table, where she was struck by bullets in the head and neck. She was airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital and remains in critical condition.
A bullet remains lodged in her and shards are still in her brain, but she is fighting for her life and showing small signs of improvement.
Her family has received many donations to support her long and expensive road to recovery.
Pray for Maya and her family.

Heavenly Father,
We come together as one family to lift Maya up to You.
Cover her with Your healing hands.
We pray that these gunshot wounds will not have the final word over her life.
Restore her body, strengthen her spirit, and surround her with Your peace.
Lord, do what only You can do.
Show Yourself mighty in her situation.
Let her life be a testimony of Your grace and power.

can you please make a post for Maya? She’s from my Area in BC Canada and was gunned down in a mass shooting. She’s barely hanging on.
Growing old doesn’t mean loving less, it just means needing a little more grace.
Accidents happen, but loyalty never stops.
For senior dogs, comfort & patience mean everything.
They spend their whole life trying for us, the least we can do is show kindness back. ❤️🐶🐾
