My 9yo was admitted to the ICU at 4am. I texted my boss that I couldn’t make my shift. She thanked me for the heads-up, then asked if I’d need tomorrow off too. Hours later, a text from my coworker at work made me sign my resignation. It read, “Our boss just asked us to cover your shift, but none of us can rearrange our schedules like that we have lives outside work too. Can’t you come even part time?”
@wenglishpaul@cardiffcouncil@ColostomyUK @huwthomas_Wales Thank you for your perseverance with this, thankfully some venues were more accommodating. I'm at the opposite end of Wales or I would have come to take a look 💜
Happy World Ostomy Day to all my fellow ostomates out there. You are all legends!
Education and representation raise so much needed awareness.

@tinyspeckofkel@of_disability Not quite figured that out just yet! I'm not sure if everyone is done the same but I basically don't have a butt crack anymore. Feel free to DM if you have any questions there's a load of people been through it who I'm sure will help and advise
Me, checking my new Barbie butt every day trying to figure out just how they did it! In other news, IT WASNT CANCER! No sign of colon cancer in the colon, rectum, or anus. As we couldn't get in to biopsy, the decision was taken to remove the lot, based on the risk due to symptoms
@SamanthaSw1972 It honestly is. I wasn't diagnosed til I was 30 or so. My 3 stomas have recently been reduced to one after having the colon rectum and anus removed. My son was diagnosed at 11. Hope you're daughters doing ok. It's such a horrible disease and yet not many people know about it
@of_disability I'm doing ok thanks. Had a few infections to deal with before the old stomas started healing. I've had a couple of bleeds from my new bum which freaks me out but nurses have checked and aren't worried
@of_disability I'm sure every surgeon has their own favourite technique, but for the life of me I can't figure out how, even after the colorectal nurse explained!
@RobertFisk@stomababe@itvcorrie They worked with colostomy UK for the storyline. Maybe they had to "reign it in" to make it audience appropriate but in many ways they didn't do it accurately. She looked like she could get up and do cartwheels around the ward at any moment.
