🦮🙌 we are qualified as a #GuideDog partnership! Otto (formerly known as TGD) and I qualified this morning by being observed on the route to the gym. So grateful to our wonderful trainer and everyone at @GuideDogs for making this possible. The start of an exciting adventure! 🤗
😖🚌Whoever chose the sound for announcements on London buses telling you the bus destination has changed or is going out of service really picked an appropriate sound for a clanging chime of doom.
🦮😤Is this a record? Three service animal refusals in a row from @Uber this morning. Put a message on the app saying I had a #GuideDog and then they cancelled.
🦮🐿️🤗 When @VictoriaH_FCDO and I visited The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs to hand over copies of her letters of Creedence, Rok Srakar gave me this lovely squirrel. It doesn’t run as fast as squirrels in London but is more squeaky and chewy. Thanks @MZEZ_RS. 🇬🇧🇸🇮
Preparing to fly back to Slovenia after a few days in the UK - and lots of shopping. If packing a large cabin bag for an EasyJet flight was an Olympic sport… 🥇
@blindandb0ujee You may be oK. How much disruption you have depends on where you’re trying to get to. The longer bus routes out to the suburbs were particularly affected by the congested roads and terminated early, so we had to change several times But everyone was super kind and helpful.
Just discovered it’s quicker to fly from Slovenia to the UK than travel from central to Southwest London on a tube strike day. But despite the Travel chaos, I love my home city and I’m grateful to the kindness of so many Londoners who helped Otto and me today.
🦮😱 wondering how long it will be before the dictionary definition of pavement will need to be changed from dedicated walkway for pedestrians to e-bike dumping zone…
@wandbc This is great to hear. However, the biggest changes that could be made to make the pavements safer for me as a blind person is to remove E bikes. In the last two days I’ve tripped over three. Also cutting back overgrown hedges would be very welcome.
Anyone else get frustrated when those providing special assistance apply guidance as a hard and fast rule? Wanted to be at the front of the train so nearer the exit but was told it was the rule that I sat with the guard “ in case you fall over during the journey “.😕
@LynneNi59944303 Wow! So scary and so unnecessary. When I get the inevitable I don’t know how you manage comments I do think the hardest thing to manage are other peoples well-intentioned but misguided attempts to help.
🦮😱Question of the day. If you see a #GuideDog and their owner approaching a tube station escalator and you are curious about how they will use it, do you a. Respect the guide dog is working and Observe them or b. grab the owner’s arm as she is getting on to ask her about it?
😊☕️ However short my trips back to the UK, I always make time to visit the wonderful @ArtizanCoffee. They make Otto and me so welcome and today even drew a picture of Otto on my coffee.
😤Oh happy days. I have just been described as handicapped by a woman on the bus talking to her friend. When I said excuse me I’m not handicapped. She said “yes you are you can’t see”. It is 2025 isn’t it?
Today is #InternationalGuideDogsDay — and we’re celebrating @AmbassadogOtto, our Ambassador’s guide dog and an essential member of our team.🦮💜
Thank you to all guide dogs and their trainers (thanks @guidedogs !), for opening doors to freedom, confidence and inclusion.🙌
@wheelie_blade That would be super helpful as is letting me know the buses are stopping away from the bus stop due to roadworks and other practical information.
😕 Stranger just asked me at the bus stop where I was going. I asked why she was asking as are many reasons why she might ask. “I wanted to know if you need any help”. Said I didn’t thanks. her response:you people need to educate us better on how we should help you. Really?
To their credit @Uber_Support phone me in response to me reporting the #GuideDog refusal. First question I was asked: so we can confirm we have the correct trip, what did the driver look like? 👩🏼🦯🤦🤣
😤🦮 Another #GuideDog Refusal by an @Uber driver in London. No, I don’t need to order Uber pet as Otto is not a pet he is a service animal and by law all cab drivers in the UK unless exempted by a medically certified allergy must carry service animals. @Uber_Support
