Here's why:

A shop ties you to one location, one market, and largely one business model.

₦60 million gives you freedom.

You can set up in another state and avoid direct competition with your former boss.

You can diversify instead of putting everything into one shop.

You can invest part of the money, keep part as working capital, and still have an emergency cushion.

If the market changes, you can pivot. A shop can't pivot.

Most importantly, the boss is probably offering that restriction because he knows your value. If he's willing to pay ₦60 million to keep you from operating in Lagos, then you've learned something valuable enough to succeed elsewhere.

A shop is an asset.

Cash + experience + freedom is a weapon.
