Each week, Jewish people around the world read the same Parasha (meaning “portion”) from the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible) and the Haftorah (meaning "conclusion" and includes the Prophets). This week’s Parasha is Deuteronomy 11:26-16:17 and Isaiah 54:11-55:5.

Moses sets before Israel blessings and the curses, calling them to choose obedience to God’s commands and urging them to remember the Lord who redeemed them from Egypt.

Each day we stand before the choice of obedience to God or self. When we are faithful, our lives become a testimony of love and gratitude before our Lord.

Moses reminds Israel how the Lord carried them through the wilderness and disciplined them as a loving Father. He urges them to remember the lesson of the golden calf so they will walk humbly and faithfully in the land ahead.

Remembering how God has carried, corrected, and sustained us softens our hearts, teaching us to walk in grateful obedience and wholehearted trust as we step into the promises before us.

Moses shares his heartfelt plea to enter the Promised Land, reminds Israel of God’s gift of the Ten Commandments at Sinai, and proclaims the Shema, calling them to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and strength.

Even when our prayers are answered differently than we desire, we are invited to trust God’s wisdom, hold fast to His Word, and love Him wholeheartedly as we step into the promises He has prepared for us.
