Check out "Be Grateful or Be Quiet: Confronting the Epistemic Harms of Adoption," by Michele Merritt, PhD and #adoptee. Thoughtful, insightful analysis of the marginalization of adopted people and the resulting harms and hidden injustices of #adoption. https://t.co/hy0Qwg1IDk
Reading a good book reminds me that I can sustain attention on something without feeling the need to look at a device or three. I'm a third through "The Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhon. It's great. Gotta love that historical fiction when you're living in a time of absurd realism.
It is interesting to see who is grieving that #adoptions have closed from #China, and who is heartened. Within those two camps, who holds power and privilege in society? Whose voices are we listening to? Who's being quoted in news reports? Agencies, parents, #adoptees?
