The best way to help a child/pupil regulate is to create a sense of safety. This helps turn off the amygdala & the sympathetic nervous system & respond to their emotions. I see you ,I hear you,what happened to you, how can I help you. 🧠🌱
Talking about feelings & acknowledging even the hard, not so nice, unsettling ones through a mindful craft activity, helped one of our pupils today to share how they were feeling, even though they won’t see their mum on Mother’s Day. They still wanted to show their love for her.
Pupils engaged with #WorldPoetryDay2025 in The Haven today. Lots of conversations about associations of certain words but also how the rhythm of poems can make you feel relaxed. Pupils enjoyed engaging in together own Spring themed poems also ✍️🌼🌷🌸
