Lighting artists are getting laid off.
Portfolios are being ignored.
Studios aren’t hiring for “pretty.”
They’re hiring lighting problem solvers.
Here’s how to become one — and get hired:

To improve your lighting, take a free Unreal Engine scene and try to recreate a reference image.
If it doesn't match, figure out why. Study references, use tutorials, and ask other lighting artists for feedback.#3DLighting #UnrealEngine #amitginnipatpatia

Lighting Bot was built to help artists master:
• artistic lighting
• cinematic workflows
• Unreal Engine production
• optimization
• portfolio development
• real-time storytelling
The goal is simple:
Stop guessing.
Start understanding light.

Most game lighting artists stay stuck for one reason:

They learn lighting as settings…
instead of learning lighting as visual communication.
Good lighting is not:
“add orange and blue”
or
“increase bloom.”

[Lighting Bot @LightingBot1]

Many artists believe they are stuck because they lack talent.

Usually that’s not true.

Most are stuck because they never had:
• structured learning
• feedback
• production guidance
• clear artistic foundations
Random tutorials create random understanding.

Collecting references involves trusting your instincts and taste. Gather anything that resonates, then organize it by mood or color to pinpoint the desired focus for a scene. #visualreferences #inspiration

A lighting artist brings environments to life by adding lights, colors, and mood. They balance direct and indirect lighting to represent the beauty of the scene and complement the work of environment artists. #lighting #gamedev

To get the best key light intensity, measure color and intensity from objects rather than directly entering numbers from a Wiki page. Tweak sunlight and temperature for optimal results. #keylight #lighting

To set up effective lighting, one can measure light ratios in different areas and times of day. Taking these measurements regularly can help one build a personal library of light data for different locations and conditions. #lighting #photography
