Someone had an excellent point about "mother shaming". I completely forgot about it, but I do remember it was very popular and widely advertised in the early 2000s. Women also warned others about having children so many of us were scared out of the idea of families. A bad economy doesn't help, but I think you're onto something about the main drivers.
