Lightraider knights strike out into the dragon lands to share the gift of the Rescuer and save the lost. Lightraiders is an rpg-based discipleship system.
James sat down with the venerable masters of the Fantastical Truth podcast to talk about fathers, faith, and discipleship and to catch them up on the Lightraiders nonprofit discipleship project. Definitely worth a listen!
"Most men don't read."
Sometimes that's a real trend.
Other times? it kind of feels like some forces don't want them to read.
But if you would train for dragon fights—as you should!—then you need more than preaching and podcasts.
You need stories like @lightraiders . 1/3
I'm in this one! Loved the challenge of helping write the game in which YOUR party journeys to defeat dragons and their corrupt allies. Plus employ Scripture and make good choices to earn valuable Wisdom Points.

The Lightraiders nonprofit project is creating an engaging, game-based youth discipleship curriculum for families, churches, and schools.
Our team is entirely volunteer, putting in more than 300 collective hours per month. They also shouldered the funding burden while we awaited 501(c)(3) status (and still do).
We can’t do this without you.
100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to creating and distributing the curriculum (no admin costs). Will you consider joining us with a monthly donation to advance Christian discipleship?

What a beautiful depiction of Emen Yan, capital of King’s Cradle in Tanelethar (the Dragon Lands).
So grateful to @smitchellmaps for this gorgeous work!
Have you tried drawing a map as a vector?
I decided to redraw the whole map I’ve been sharing with you in Adobe Fresco. Pretty happy with how it’s looking so far!
We are so honored that @smitchellmaps took on this art commission for Emen Yan in King’s Cradle. Our Lightraiders realm keeps growing in its beauty thanks to incredible artists like her.
Look at what just came in the mail. Excited to learn how to play it and teach the kiddos and friends.

Here’s the thing:
All of what John says here is true. Saw some of it with my own eyes. At some point this had to be done.
At the same time, the result, if we do it halfway or with half a will, is going to be ISIS-dominated chaos throughout the region.
So we’re in it now. Get on board. Pray like you never have before. Pray with your families. Pray with your friends. Encourage our troops. Encourage our national leaders. If not for them or our fighters, do it for the Iranian people.
We *must* have a unified national will to see this through all the way to an ending that doesn’t involve the suffering of millions.
Praise report;
I’ve made it through 4 nights in a row without oxygen. The first three, I did two hours of saturation before going to sleep, but last night there was no need for the machine at all!
At this rate we’ll be able to send the machine back soon, and I can keep working on clearing the blood clots.
Last year @EnclaveBooks launched my sci-fi debut Above the Circle of Earth. Ever since, I've heard the sequel questions. While I replied like a hinting dad at Christmastime. Now I finally get to reveal:
The Space Mission will continue.
Even now, I am assembling books 2 and 3.🚀

I asked ChatGPT how our youth discipleship nonprofit could bring in the funding we need, and it gave me this. I think it’s implying we should mimic the Girl Scouts’ child labor model.
Sunday Morning update. God is faithful and to be praised!
We had a breakthrough last night, both in communications with the doctors and in healing.
A specialist stepped in, cut some red tape, and now I can have the temporary home oxygen system I will need. At the same time, my lungs have shown dramatic improvement. According to the doctor and a new chest X-ray, what should have taken weeks, has taken days. The respiratory therapist now believes that I won’t need oxygen during sleep much longer. Yesterday, she told us a month. This morning she reduced that estimate to a few days. God is good!
I must add, that as a husband, I had a breakthrough moment yesterday, when the red tape was blocking the oxygen and we were doing tests that allowed my blood oxygen to dip to “see if he can get by without it.” 😬😳
To be very honest, I was a little fuzzy after those tests. But as I sat there, mentally just trying to keep up, I watched my wife fight with the doctors for my life, with dignity, grace, intelligence, and tenacity. It was a side of her nurturing spirit that I don’t often get to see, and I’m grateful I had the opportunity.
“Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness I say, ‘The Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in him.’”
