THIS. I wrote WTWR as an answer to the way horror/fantasy treat assault as a motivator/plot device, 99% of the time to some secondary character to affect the MC.

I had a review drop a ⭐ bc it wasn’t "necessary."

It's never necessary, just, or deserved. It derails everything.
