Today, we celebrate the African child.
In 1976, children marched for dignity and justice. In 2024, Gen Z took to the streets demanding accountability, economic justice, and a future free from corruption. Different generations. Same courage.
No amount of intimidation can silence a generation determined to be heard. The struggle may change, but the lesson remains: together we are stronger. Solidarity is our greatest power.
As we speak of justice, we must also speak of reparations. The same Ministry of Interior that oversaw the National Police Service during the crackdown on protesters is now the accounting officer for the KSh 2 billion compensation fund for human rights victims. Yet the allocation was a one-off budget item with no provision in the years ahead.
Justice cannot be reduced to a fiscal deadline. Victims deserve meaningful, transparent, and sustained reparations.
History does not repeat itself, but it rhymes.

How do you craft credible narratives?
At #MaskaniEldoret, participants are exploring the role of credibility in effective digital advocacy and narrative framing. Trust determines how far a message travels and how seriously it is received.
Building credibility requires verifying information before sharing, correcting mistakes, avoiding sensationalism, and ensuring communication remains ethical and responsible.
Strong advocates rely on evidence, protect their sources and communities, and prioritise accuracy over speed. In digital spaces, credibility strengthens influence, protects integrity, and ensures that voices for change are trusted and impactful.

The Lirhanda Mixed Primary ECDE Centre in Murhanda Ward was initiated as part of efforts to strengthen Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) infrastructure by improving access to quality and modern learning facilities for young children.
The project received an allocation of KSh 4.5 million under the county education infrastructure programme and was expected to support the construction and upgrading of ECDE learning spaces to create a conducive environment for learners.
However, since its commencement in 2023, the project has experienced significant delays, with reports indicating that the contractor “alihiepa,” leaving the works incomplete. Despite the allocation of public funds, the intended infrastructure has not been fully delivered, resulting in a stalled project that has left learners, teachers, and parents without the improved facilities that were promised.
The continued stagnation of the Lirhanda Mixed Primary ECDE Centre raises serious concerns about project implementation, contractor accountability, and the efficient use of public resources. While the demand for quality ECDE facilities remains high, the incomplete project highlights the persistent gap between budget allocation and actual delivery of services on the ground.
As delays continue, the broader question remains: how can communities strengthen oversight mechanisms to ensure that public funds for education infrastructure translate into completed, functional projects that directly benefit learners and improve learning outcomes?#FixECDEFixTVETs

@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Infact county government should not receive development funds from the exchequer untill they are able to fully account for the projects done and fully delivered .
#FixECDEFixTVETs
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya For proper auditing and delivery of projects a law needs to be enacted to end this rush in starting new projects yet many others lie abandoned and incomplete!!
#FixECDEFixTVETs
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Government should stop this madness of starting new projects while it has not completed the same nature of projects in other sub counties , it's malicious and bad financial management practices.
#FixECDEFixTVETs
Should county officials continue approving budgets for new education infrastructure projects before completing existing stalled projects, and who should be held accountable when taxpayers continue funding projects that fail to deliver services to citizens. #MaskaniKakamega #FixECDEFixTVETs
@Maskani254@kawive@Kakamega_037 Publishing clear timelines and periodic progress updates would help citizens understand project status, identify delays early, and ensure that education investments deliver results for learners. #FixECDEFixTVETs#MaskaniKakamega
