Rico Wade and Organized Noise used to have Big Boi and 3stacks run while reciting their songs to build up their endurance during performing. Rappers these days aren’t doing this and this is how we end up with people speaking on breath control & back tracks like it’s a bad thing.
Ever since I found out John had been lying about being Puerto Rican for decades, I always found him to be real sinister and attention seeking. Another example below. Weirdo
@kingebarrington The Mississippi Prison Work Songs and W.D. Bama Stewart's Levee Camp Holler is instantly what I thought about with African Islamic influence!

i think conversation of colourism and featurism in hollywood can exist without y’all going so far left you’ve gone right. + these conversations are never held for men so there’s that
y'all say this and all it does is immediately expose how little you've really studied west/central african cultures, plural. you don't really know much about africans or black americans. 🥴
Black politics is incredibly stunted & how people discuss the politics in art is often a mirror of that. Black mainstream musicians constantly flirt with the idea they’re revolutionaries but never challenge capitalism, imperialism and material exploitation yet people eat it up
This viewpoint with (white) liberals about the South is irritating. It's a white paternalistic mindset that erases the ways those two enacted policies that further pathologized Black Southerners and didn't really enforce civil rights, especially within orgs such as the USDA.
To act as if most white LGBTQ+ ppl didn't form communities largely segregated from non-white LGBTQ+ ppl, especially once the former aligned by respectability politics, is disingenuous. Plus this disregards the cross-pollination of language b/t Black women & Black queer ppl. (Fin)
Eh. There were instances where it was largely self-segregated amongst Black (and brown) ballrooms that faced racism from white gays. Even Huey Newton phased out of initially working with Gay Liberation because he saw it as a white struggle (inaccurate, but was seen as that). (1/)
Boers: They're killing us and we might not last much longer. Help😫
Trump: OK, come on over!🤗
Boers: But...but we have all these lands, businesses, well paying jobs, high quality cheap food, affordable housing and abundant cheap Black labour over here🫣
Americans weren't sleep marched into it. They actively covered up their ears while the whole world and the regions they destroyed kept screaming at them to find some humanity. They're now only caring about how fascit their country is because it's directed at them.
@spinbackmecca@WickedNFine@incxgnegrx2 Drake had a single (Forever) for the LeBron doc "More than a Game" and that's probably where his weird fanboy obsession began. It was based on LBJ's high school, hence *that* specific tattoo of LBJ. He does that with various living ppl he idolizes. He has one of Denzel too 🫠🫠
