@cameron101298@Stuhlinger96@voidsentflame They also gave an exception to Korean players who had to start in Shadowkeep which undermines the “Old Light” qualification.
@cameron101298@Stuhlinger96@voidsentflame The idea is it’s for D2 players that played every year (logged on once) since release. It’s silly of course because you’re literally an “Old Light” and tons of people started in forsaken and have thousands of hours but that’s how it is.
@ThatDamnYankee5@TheNeonDreamer4@Destiny2Team I understand that’s the reason. My point is that, under their definition for the emblem, Koreans aren’t old lights so why make the exception? I agree they should get it because they are veterans too! So is everyone else that started then. Thats the point!
@ThatDamnYankee5@TheNeonDreamer4@Destiny2Team Your argument isn’t an argument. You are describing what is happening and why, not why it should be.
Their intention is not matching the execution. There are players that started in forsaken that have played much longer than people logging in once a year for an update.
@MoltenSlowa You guys should change the old light emblem requirements. It doesn’t help me but there are a lot of players that spent a lot of time, they just skipped a year or started in forsaken. It could easily be 5 or so expansions and work for everyone. Even Korean players!
@shutupfede Yeah I think ultimately the issue is that Destiny is a content delivery platform that doesn’t really generate its own content like some other multiplayer shooters.
They basically have to make a miniature sequel every year to get the player count that just drops off again anyway
@TheNeonDreamer4@Destiny2Team Should’ve been number of expansions. This way they could’ve respected veterans that weren’t there for launch but put thousands of hours in.
Wouldn’t even have to make the Korean exception. Shadowkeep to now would be 7 expansions. Perfectly reasonable.
The emblem was such a stupid idea lol
Now “old light” means that you logged in for a second once a year since launch unless you’re in Korea then its shadow keep. Sucks if you started in forsaken!
Using a number of expansions as the benchmark would’ve worked for everyone
A few updates:
1. Emblem art is being updated to include Rise of Iron and Monument of Triumph.
2. For our Korean Guardians, we are also ensuring that you will qualify for the emblem if you began playing during Shadowkeep.
As a reminder, this emblem will be granted to qualifying players in waves. There are a lot of you! If you don't see it during our first wave, please hold until we've issued the second before submitting any missing emblem tickets.
Thank you to all who have been asking Q's. Keep 'em coming.
@ethangach Agreed that Marathon is easier to maintain for cheaper though. Destiny is an outlier in terms of production value. Their other costs (voice acting, cutscenes, etc.) are freakish and you can see how content and gameplay suffered for that.
@Clairomancer@ethangach Yeah saying it’s literally only 30k people every day is just wrong but I also don’t think it’s fair to assume that’s what they mean. It’s just a shorthand. Most get what it means imo.
@Clairomancer@ethangach DAUs are great for telling your publisher how many people see your micro transactions and an overall view of how many people you’re reaching but it’s hardly informative on its own.
@Clairomancer@ethangach Why would DAUs matter in the discussion around engagement in a service game with matchmaking and PvP/Team-play?
People need to be playing at the same time for that. The more the better. The less the worse.
