I don’t think people fully grasp that entire communities in Nepal were erased in a matter of minutes. The psychological and environmental trauma survivors will carry for the rest of their lives is beyond comprehension.
They just rescued 163 kidnapped kids in underground cages with duct tape over their mouths from a human trafficking ring in Florida and it hasn’t been on the news once because it’s 3 white maga Christian dudes that ran it. Take all the time you need with that one
I genuinely don’t understand how we are supposed to casually process that a glacier literally collapsed in Nepal, erasing 19 bridges and killing over 600 people, because the planet is too hot. And instead of stopping it, billionaires are building more data centres. It is completely psychotic.
Penguin India just issued a statement that says everything and nothing.
They deny they dropped Belonging because Sonia Gandhi refused “editorial changes.” They insist they stayed “willing and keen.” They refuse to say what those recommendations were. They refuse to say who ended the Indian deal.
So @PenguinIndia: you were keen, you are not the publisher, and the reason is confidential. That is not a clarification. That is a locked drawer.
Knopf in New York is printing 1 lakh copies. You, the Indian arm of the same group, are not.
After Doniger was pulped, after Naravane was listed then disowned, after Sacco was handed a five-page list and dropped; this is the same script. Fact-check is not a synonym for delete.
If the recommendations were routine, publish the list. If you were keen, name who said no. The country is watching the silence, not the letterhead.
The accused, identified as Siddhartha Das(23) and Mugdha Das(19) allegedly remained inside the house for hours after the killings all 4 family members, even attempting to wipe their fingerprints from the victims' phones and staging the scene to make it look like a robbery, according to Dhaka Tribune.
"Women can have father, brother, husband, son, but they 'belong' to no one but themselves". Us feminists on this space have said this for years at personal cost - doxxing, massive coordinated trolling, abuse across multiple platforms. It's refreshing to hear a politician say this
He’s so nicely raised. I mean his grandmother was INDIRA GANDHI ffs and his mama is the longest serving president of a political party like yeah he’s raised by loud secure awesome women. Obviously, he’s a FEMINIST. 😭❤️
Whenever I speak to men, I find that women are often placed in just three boxes: daughter, wife, or mother.
There is nothing wrong with any of these identities. But these cannot be your only identities.
Women are professionals, sportspersons, leaders, creators, entrepreneurs, and so much more. Yet too often, their identity is defined only through their relationship with a man.
🔹The Manusmriti states that a woman must never be independent.
But I believe the biggest strength of this country is the fact that our women should be independent, should stand up for themselves, and should believe in themselves.
You may have relationships with your father, brother, husband, or son, but you do not belong to them. You belong to yourself.

First in my bloodline to see a male politician in India speak so openly about patriarchy and women’s rights. Absolute brilliance.
He earned even more respect today, from women and men alike. ❤️
@RahulGandhi
Women are the strength of India - its foundation, its present, and its future.
You belong to no one but yourself.
Be loud. Be proud. Fight for your space.
Smash the patriarchy!

“YOU BELONG TO NOBODY BUT YOURSELF”
You have a relationship with your father, brother, husband… BUT YOU DO NOT BELONG to them!!!
THE GASP I GASPED JUST NOWW
RAHUL GANDHI THE MAN YOU ARE 🔥💛
“Do You Support Israel’s Right to Exist?” Mehdi Hasan FIRES BACK
Mehdi Hasan: I've been debating hardcore Zionists, Israeli supporters of Israel, for years. And the conversation always comes back to one talking point:
“Do you, or do you not support Israel’s right to exist?”
If you don't, you're an extremist, you're an anti-Semite, you want to wipe Israel and millions of Israeli Jews off the map.
But you don't have to concede on this point. It's a bullshit argument.
Number one: Right to exist where?
Israel is the only country in the world that refuses to define its borders.
So if you want me to recognize Israel's right to exist, does that extend into Gaza, the West Bank, the Golan Heights, East Jerusalem all considered illegally occupied territory under international law?
So, right to exist where?
Number two: What is this right to exist? Where does it come from?
States don't have a right to exist. People, individuals have a right to exist. Human beings have that right. Not states, not countries.
The USSR broke up into Russia and 14 other states. Yugoslavia broke up. Czechoslovakia split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
What happened to their “right to exist”?
People have rights, not states.
And number three: If there is a right to exist, does Palestine have a right to exist?
Israel exists. It's a country with sovereignty, it's on the map.
The idea that in a world where Israel is genociding the Palestinians in Gaza, ethnically cleansing them in the West Bank, and blocking their legal right to return the idea that Israel's right to exist is the one we should be concerned about, and not Palestine's, is both ridiculous and, let's be honest, racist.
“I did a leg amputation on a 5-year-old girl, and the only anesthesia that we had was the anesthesia doctor singing to her… We were praying for her to faint. She stayed awake the whole amputation.”
Absolutely devastating testimony from doctors in Gaza.
Villagers have repeatedly complained about the school principal’s alcoholism, but senior authorities have taken no action.
If the principal is not removed by Tuesday, I will join the villagers in protest.
The school also has just two teachers for five classrooms. These issues cannot be ignored.

It's payback time Smita. You all played a pivotal role with the BJP government when they ridiculed and bullied Rahul Gandhi for years. He was never Pappu but you all pushed that narrative to make Modi look great and make people disregard everything he said. Life always comes back, tables always turn and power always xhanges hands. Enjoy the 🤏🐒 campaign now.
