@georgesands58 I think the Bulls drafted the second pick: David Greenwood.

April 15, 1977: Benches clear during a Western Conference playoff game in Chicago.

Portland’s Herm Gilliam was ejected. Maurice Lucas (Blazers) was given a technical for punching Bulls asst. coach Gene Tormohlen, who’d grabbed Gilliam by the neck to pull him from Wilbur Holland.

The 8-1 #Packers — winners of eight straight after an opening day loss to Chicago — take on the 8-1 #Bears at Wrigley Field.

From the opening kickoff, Chicago steamrolls Green Bay en route to a convincing 26-7 victory — providing them the inside track to the NFL West crown.

The Bears' offensive and defensive lines dominate the favored Packers all game.

Chicago controls the ball (74 offensive plays to Green Bay's 52) and the turnover ratio (+7), limiting the Packers to a mere 71 rushing yards and holding them scoreless until very late in the game.

Bears head coach and founder George Halas calls it their "biggest win since the 1946 NFL Championship".

🗓 OTD in 1985: Michael Jordan won Rookie of the Year.

A crazy stat: He averaged 28.2 PPG and was first in the NBA with 2,313 total points. MJ's 28.2 PPG were his LOWEST ever in a Bulls uniform (excluding the 2 years he only played 18 and 17 games).

My family is still in shock over Les Grobstein’s passing. We have so many memories of him and the WLS 89ers. He was kind, thoughtful and he cared so deeply about the sports he covered. His memory was remarkable. And he was a very good friend to my family. RIP, old friend.
