A woman can spend years putting everyone else first, and the moment she finally chooses herself, suddenly she’s “selfish.” Funny how quickly self-care becomes a problem when people benefited from her self-sacrifice.
People lack accountability and then say “you could’ve talked to me.” No, I couldn’t. You don’t listen or you deflect. You turn every concern into an attack, twist the conversation and somehow make yourself the victim. Talking to you doesn’t bring resolution, it leaves me exhausted. I don’t owe my peace to someone who only wants a conversation to win an argument instead of understand what I’m saying.
I realized that when you’re a little too understanding, people slowly start becoming a little too comfortable overlooking your feelings. The more grace you give without boundaries, the easier it becomes for others to take your kindness for granted.
