Game 2:
Beal City scored the first 14 points of the game while holding Beaverton scoreless for more than 9 minutes & later added 6 straight to take their biggest lead at 22-7. Beaverton then flipped the script & scored the final 10 points of the first half to pull within 22-17 at the break. Each team scored 8 points in the 3rd to maintain the 5-pt margin heading into the final period.
Myah Hubble went on a personal 8-0 run to start the 4th qtr giving Beaverton their first lead, burying a 3, completing an old-fashioned 3-pt play off the drive, & then getting a pickpocket steal near half-court & taking it in for a layup. Around the 3:30 mark with the game tied, Hubble added another 3 to give them a 41-38 lead. Lydee Salisbury hit a pair of FTs for Beal City to cut the margin to 1 & later, after a Hubble FT, hit 2 more to tie the game at 42 with 0:14.5 left. A BC defensive stop sent the game to OT.
In OT, soph Sayde Woodruff hit a FT line jumpers to give the lead back to Beaverton at 3:25 &, after many empty possessions both ways, Trinity Danielak added a pair of FTs at 1:30 to give them a 4-pt lead. With just under a minute left in OT, jr Dakota Dodak went to the FT line (after picking up the 5th foul on Hubble) & hit both. On the ensuing possession, Liliana Leppert picked up a steal at half-court & fed Salisbury for a fast break layup to tie the game. After a Beaverton turnover, Beal City advanced the ball up court &, after nothing materialized, called a timeout with 0:14.5 left. After the inbound, Leppert fed Salisbury on her flash into the middle of the lane & Salisbury turned & scored over the front of the rim with less than 0:05 remaining. Beaverton did not get a shot off & Beal City wins an exciting 48-46 OT game to advance to the district final against Meridian.
Lydee Salisbury (pictured, l) hit important FTs in regulation to force OT as well as the tying & go-ahead baskets in OT to extend her senior season. She finished with team-highs in points (14), rebounds (7), & steals (5). Fellow srs Brianna Locke & Mid-Michigan Community College recruit Liliana Leppert combined for 17 more points; Leppert also collected 7 rebounds.
Beaverton is a young team starting 3 sophomores & a freshman along with a senior. Soph Myah Hubble (pictured, r) hit a trio of 3s & led all scorers with 24 points, while adding 5 assists & 4 steals. Fellow soph Trinity Danielak contributed 14 points, 4 steals, & 4 blocked shots. Sr Bryar Pollard did not score, but tallied 10 rebounds & 5 assists in her final HS game.
