Mrs. Stephens focuses on the complicated portions of the song by breaking them into short sections and working through them with each section until the students master their part and can play the section together. #HCSInsideMyClassroom
An accidental is when a note is marked different (sharp, flat or natural) from the key the piece is written in. This is a difficult skill and takes practice to master. #HCSInsideMyClassroom
This morning we’re inside Mrs. Stephens’ band classroom at @LVHSJackets where students are working on two pieces of music and practicing sight reading. These students are in 8th-12th grades. #HCSInsideMyClassroom
The last exercise students are working on today is sightreading. This is when students are asked to play a piece of music they’ve never seen or practiced before to show their level of skill. The students have one minute to study the sheet music. #HCSInsideMyClassroom
