The Ombudsman has ordered Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Robin Padilla and suspended Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca to submit an explanation on the obstruction of justice complaint filed by Tindig Pilipinas.
In an Ombudsman order dated June 23, the respondents are directed to file their counter-affidavits within a non-extendible period of 15 days.

Former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillianes IV on Thursday filed a cyber libel complaint before the Department of Justice against former Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Rodante Marcoleta, and the 18 “ex-Marines” over the June 4 Senate hearing.
In the complaint, Trillianes said the 18 individuals who introduced themselves as former Marines “clearly conspired and confederated” with Cayetano and Marcoleta in “executing a clearly malicious and dubious” joint sworn affidavit.
He alleged that they also conspired to attend the controversial hearing, “boosting each other’s claims, goading each to speak, propounding leading questions and supporting each other’s lies.”
“Itong 18 ‘ex-bodyguards’ na ito, habang patuloy silang nagpapagamit doon sa mga political backer nila, mayroon silang kakaharapin na consequences,” the former Senator added.
This is Trillianes’ third time filing a complaint against the 18 “ex-Marines” who alleged that he had delivered bribe money to the International Criminal Court. However, this is the first time he named Cayetano and Marcoleta as respondents. | via @beypinlac
