We launched @Stardayfoods today. I’m exhausted, proud, and immensely grateful. To the team, our families, our investors, our friends - thank you. I’ll have more eloquent thoughts tomorrow, but for now - please enjoy this exquisitely sophisticated launch day team photo.
1) Earlier today, we announced our investment into @Stardayfoods, a next-gen food conglomerate built for the digital age. We couldn't be happier to back this team and are excited to share more about why we are so excited to reinvent the future of food. 🧵https://t.co/slHJr22tHQ
Our kitchen is officially open 👋 Equal Parts is a whole new way to enjoy home cooking, combining one part cookware and one part personal guidance from a cooking coach you can text. We’re so excited to get cooking with you 👉 https://t.co/9VlE99l2YF
We see cooking as a simple way to resist the constant pull of work and #enjoydailylife. Here’s the story of how we developed a new kind of cooking brand designed to help our generation build comfort and intuition in the kitchen. @patternbrands

8/ We’ve got lots to learn as we go, but @emmettshine and I are excited to explore and work with others as we develop this next consumer era - DWC (direct-with-consumer)
DM me if you want to chat on it!
7/ “a multi-brand approach”
In this world, multi-brand makes sense. We create better relationships, strive towards one mission, and drive for better business fundamentals
(more to come on how we are organized internally to make that happen)
6/ “sustainable economics” (cont)
It also depressurizes the scale that each individual brand has to achieve. Rather than growing for growth’s sake, we’re able to work as a family that goes after one shared goal together. (i.e. the sum > the individual parts)
5/ “sustainable economics” (cont)
For @patternbrands, our business only works if we build a community that connects with our wider mission (#enjoydailylife). We can rethink customer economics, as we’re investing in a longer relationship with each other
4/ “sustainable economics"
For singular brands, many categories don't work from a CAC / LTV perspective. Low barriers mean that every category has copycats & noise, all of which are driving up competition.
For consumers, it means that our social feeds are a sea of "sameness"
3/ “a more personal relationship”
We go beyond selling products by helping people learn how to use them; by guiding them with the habits and skills necessary, just as in pre-internet days, a store owner or a friend would have done
This is intimacy at scale.
2/ How is DWC different than DTC?
DWC creates a deeper, more personal relationship with consumers at scale, with sustainable economics through a multi-brand approach.
Let's break that down...
1/ With @patternbrands, we’re taking on the challenges of building a consumer business in 2019.
Based on our experiences with DTC at @ginlane, we are excited to evolve this concept through a model we’re calling “DWC,” or Direct with Consumer.
