@openstandard announced OUSD today with 140+ partners across banking, payments, crypto, commerce, and infrastructure

An ABSOLUTELY STACKED line up

This is a new consortium-backed stablecoin designed to compete directly with the issuer model behind USDC and USDT

Circle’s model is issuer-centric

> Circle issues USDC
> Circle manages the reserves
> Circle controls the roadmap
> Circle captures most of the reserve economics

$USDC became one of the most important regulated stablecoins in crypto

OUSD is taking a different route focusing on shared infrastructure and prioritizing seamless on/offramps

> Zero mint / redeem fees
> No volume caps
> Reserve yield shared with participating companies
> Consortium governance
> Multi-chain distribution
> Neutral settlement rails

The reserve economics are the real break from the current model

With USDC, the ecosystem helps distribute the stablecoin while Circle captures most of the yield

With $OUSD, participating companies can share in the reserve income generated by adoption

That creates a very different incentive loop

> Exchanges have a reason to support it
> Payment companies have a reason to route through it
> Wallets have a reason to integrate it
> Banks have a reason to participate
> Commerce platforms have a reason to push usage

Distribution starts getting paid

That is the pressure point for Circle

OUSD gives the companies moving volume a reason to prefer a stablecoin where the economics are shared instead of captured by one issuer

This is a coalition of competitors aligning around shared rails

OUSD is still pre-launch

Liquidity has to be built
Reserve transparency has to prove itself
Governance has to work in practice

The bigger shift is clear

Stablecoins are moving from crypto trading collateral to internet-native settlement infrastructure
