I’m 5 years a priest today. A real priest. Like the ones I used to read about and meet when I was younger. Praise God!
“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9)
A very warm but faith-filled celebration of Confirmation in St Mary’s Brigg with a mixture of young people & adults. Congratulations to each of them & my thanks to Fr Lym, Deacon Sam, catechists, servers, fantastic choir & all others who helped make it a lovely occasion.
I want to do my job as effectively as the lone flower girl at yesterday's wedding who made sure that every church tile on the aisle was covered in petals.
I was greeting parishioners after Sunday Mass once, and a young girl ran out with a panicked look on her face and said, “Father, your mic is still on!” Now that’s a work of mercy.
My eldest asked if Santa was real, so I taught her about Occam’s razor.
“Which is likelier: that Santa is real, or that millions of adults are in a global conspiracy to fool children into thinking he is? I remind you that you and your sister can’t keep secrets.”
I went to a friend's Hindu wedding dressed in clerical attire, which confused some people. The car park attendant asked me, "You're a priest?"
"Yes, but not THE priest."
