had feet like 2 plates of lead
but much to his credit
they nicknamed him #EDIT
because he scored every goal with his head

To PUBLISH is to bring out a book
A great writer for myself I mistook
So i wrote down some words
But all were absurd
And my publisher as fast slung his hook
During his 34th Year
The poet, Mr Edward Lear
Without taking a vote
Some nonsense he wrote
& now the limerick is here.

@RobbieRinder Rob Rinder, the best judge in the land
Had his phone snatched straight from his hand.
The crime gave Mr Rinder a shock
But he dreamt of the thieves in the dock
Where he’d say “ You’re mine now boys. Do you understand?”
@RachelWoollett Prince Phillip’s spirits are reported as fine,
And we’re reminded he is aged 99
As he sits on a ward
Feeling quite bored
He’s hoping NOT to make tomorrow’s headlines

@PamAyres A poet once wished for a needle
For all people from Chigwell to Cheadle
So we can take off the mask
then set a new task
to ensure that next year will just be dull
It's Edward Lear's birthday which makes it #LimerickDay
Do your worst (or preferably your best).
To start you off here are the rules of a limerick:
-
A limerick must have 5 lines
1,2 & 5 should have rhymes
Then lines 3 & 4
Must rhyme some more
To avoid any poetry fines

Today is #LimerickDay, so what better way to celebrate #EdwardLear & our favourite thing #Beer, than with this. 👴🦉🍺
There was an Old Man with an owl,
Who continued to bother and howl;
He sate on a rail,
And imbibed bitter ale,
Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl.
There once was a happy Blood Biker
Who strapped on his load so much tighter
He hit a bump in the road
And off flew his load
So now his bike is much lighter
#LimerickDay
Can you come up with any more Blood Bike related limericks?
