Your sled kilograms are not your race resistance.
Same plates. Different gym. One sled flies. The other barely moves.
That does not automatically mean your strength changed. The task may have changed.
Plate mass is only one input. Research has measured different friction across sports surfaces and changes in effective loading as sled mass or speed changes. Sled construction and skid material may matter too, but that is a mechanical inference. There is no validated formula that converts every local setup into a race-equivalent number.
Use MATCH-5 instead:
M · Map the sled, known mass, turf, lane, shoes and distance.
A · Audit time, stops, position and the next run.
T · Test one variable at a time.
C · Calibrate local bands from repeatable evidence.
H · Hold race-day uncertainty until comparable exposure earns confidence.
The useful question is not "What plates equal race day?"
It is "Can I repeat this task, understand the cost and make the next decision from evidence?"

Your threshold test happened fresh. Your HYROX race will not.
That does not make the test useless. It means the result is a starting point, not a command for every kilometre after sleds, lunges and the rest of the race.
The tempting shortcut: take your fresh pace, add a fixed number of seconds per kilometre and call it a race plan.
The problem: a precise answer is not automatically a well-supported answer.
PACE-4 is LimiterIQ's four-step framework for keeping the useful marker and checking the missing context.
P: PRODUCE
Create a fresh running marker in a repeatable setting. Record the conditions and the shape of the effort, not just the average pace. A field estimate does not directly measure blood lactate.
A: AUDIT
Was the distance reliable? Was the opening controlled? Did heat, fatigue, interruptions or device problems affect the result?
Classify the test as usable, questionable or invalid before letting it influence the race plan. A number does not earn authority just because your watch displays it confidently.
C: CROSS-CHECK
Observe a candidate pace after familiar, controlled station work. Keep the important session variables consistent enough for the comparison to mean something.
Did the first run settle? Were later splits coherent? Could you preserve movement standards at the next station?
If the run deteriorates, revisit the target. The fresh test cannot tell you whether station intensity, efficiency, recovery or opening pace caused the change. Inspect one important factor, then observe again.
E: ESTABLISH
Build a provisional race band: a working range supported by recent evidence, a ceiling that protects later work and a conservative fallback when conditions change.
Do not treat the fastest edge of the range as an opening-kilometre command.
PACE-4 is a decision framework, not a validated predictive test. A controlled session cannot reproduce every race-day condition, and there is no universal pace conversion here.
Keep the test. Question the conversion. Let the next session add evidence.
