In Jigawa, we witnessed a vision become reality with the launch of Nigeria’s first PULSE G.R.A.I.N Centre; a solar-powered, digitally connected hub bringing banking, markets, and smart agri-services right into the heart of rural communities.
First conceptualised during my tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, seeing the PULSE G.R.A.I.N vision move from blueprint to reality is especially rewarding.
The Green Legacy Rural Communities Agriculture Infrastructure Network (G.R.A.I.N) is designed to transform farming into a modern, profitable, and youth-driven enterprise. By focusing on pulses (protein-rich crops like beans and lentils), this initiative strengthens food security while creating jobs, improving land tenure through title deeds, and giving farmers direct access to finance and markets.
This milestone reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the 4D foreign policy (Development, Demography, Democracy and Diaspora), by proving how diplomacy can unlock technology, partnerships, and investments that deliver concrete benefits at home.
My deep appreciation goes to the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, @uanamadi, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, @SenatorAKyari CON, Chargé d'Affaire of @GERinNigeria, Johannes Lehne, and our traditional rulers whose collaboration has turned this bold idea into a living example of innovation and impact.
