I am pleased to report that I have once again stumbled upon a Horseshoe Crab in my time at Cedar Key. Unfortunately, unlike last year's, this one is deceased. I feel very lucky to have found one at all though given it is past their season of abundance.

Taxonomy Time B)

-The name of the genus, 'Limulus',which the Atlantic Horseshoe Crab belongs to, is derived from the latin term 'Limulus' which means 'A little askew'

-The epithet 'Polyphemus' is inspired by the one-eyed Greek, Polyphemus. as it was believed they had one eye
